Export Formats

Picaro supports exporting generated documents in DOCX, PDF, or both formats.

DOCX export

Generates an editable Word document. The output preserves the formatting from your original template.

When to use DOCX

• You need to make further edits after generation
• The recipient needs an editable document
• Your workflow requires Word-compatible output

PDF export

Generates a fixed-layout PDF document. The output looks consistent across all devices and viewers.

PDF options

Page size	A4, Letter, Legal, or custom
Orientation	Portrait or Landscape
Engine	LibreOffice, Browser rendering, or Auto

PDF engine choices

Engine	Best for
LibreOffice	Most accurate Word-to-PDF conversion
Browser rendering	Faster, good for simple documents
Auto	Automatically selects the best engine

Export both

When you select Both, Picaro generates a DOCX file and a PDF file for each document. Both files are saved to the output folder.

Output naming

Configure how exported files are named using field values:

{{client_name}}_{{document_type}}_{{date}}

The output folder can be configured in Settings.
