Importing Templates
Picaro reads Word documents directly and turns them into reusable templates.

Import process
Section titled “Import process”- Click Import Template from the dashboard or template library
- Select one or more
.docxfiles - Picaro scans each file for placeholder syntax
- Review the detected fields and template preview
What happens during import
Section titled “What happens during import”When you import a template, Picaro:
- Stores the source document locally
- Extracts placeholders from the Word XML
- Suggests form fields based on detected placeholders
- Generates an HTML preview of the document
- Creates a template configuration you can edit
Placeholder detection
Section titled “Placeholder detection”Picaro looks for the default placeholder syntax:
{{field_name}}You can customize the delimiters in Settings if your templates use different syntax.
Multi-document templates
Section titled “Multi-document templates”A single template can include multiple source documents. This is useful for document packs that combine a cover letter, contract, and appendix into one workflow.
